I am now on my 110th cycle of chemo, mostly FOLFIRI (5FU, or fluorouracil, plus irinotecan, with leukovorin as an adjuvant) but some FOLFOX too (5FU plus oxaliplatin). Every two weeks.

With the help of my team – spouse as caregiver, all those at CINJ – I no longer have mouth sores, do not experience constipation, do not lose 5 lbs or more fro…

Tumors on liver have finally responded favorably from chemo. Shrank more than half there size. All other is stable. First positive news in a long time. Actually when I was told I was so surprised I got good news I didn’t even react. I was in disbelief but very happy. I know I can’t be cured but cherish any extra time to be with my family.

I’m new to this forum, and just starting hydroxyurea therapy for polycythemia vera. My first treatment is today, taking 500 mg 2 times a day. The Dr. will fine tune the doseage over the next months. I was diagnosed w/ PV a couple of months ago. I am 71 years old and physically “fit”. I have several of the PV symptoms and they …

I had never given much thought to the nature of my demise, should that ever occur. However, if I had conjured up a list of potential causes, cancer would not have even been considered for consideration.
However, if it had appeared on my list as one of my potential executioners d’ jour, it would have been in the quest of completeness, not becau…
